Hall des Lumières in NYC

Must read

Culturespaces and IMG recently announced a new partnership that brings together these global leaders in media, fashion, and events, to create an immersive multimedia experience known as “The Hall des Lumieres” in New York City this fall.

Atelier des Lumieres opened his first digital fine art display in Paris in 2018. And since its inception, almost 3 million visitors have viewed digitized works from legendary artists such as Gustav Klimt, Vincent van Gogh, and Leonardo da Vinci.

Officially the first North American gallery, Hall des Lumieres, is a permanent center that’s custom-designed to provide guests with an immersive digital art experience. This installment opens on September 14, 2022, in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood and will follow in the footsteps of other digital art centers that Culturespaces created and produced around the world.

In essence, the company marries each exhibition to historical locations that it reimagines and redesigns as permanent destinations.

When will the Hall des Lumieres open?

Hall des Lumieres is set to open its doors at 49 Chambers Street, in what was once the former vault level and teller hall of the landmarked, historic Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank just across from Manhattan’s City Hall Park. The former bank has been completely reimagined to bring this experience to guests.

Hall des Lumieres: What to expect?

The immersive art center presents innovative new ways for audiences to experience and interact with artists and their work. And perhaps the best part is that the new attraction will showcase a new custom-curated exhibition about once per year.

Current Exhibitions at Hall des Lumières

Each exhibition will feature the work of world-renowned artists, the first of which is Gustav Klimt: Gold in Motion. The opening exhibit will feature 30-feet-tall, luminescent images of this legendary painter’s celebrated works as they move across the historic architecture and are mapped to the exact coordinates of the building. And when you include this with other sensory elements like musical soundtracks, this is a one-of-a-kind experience that every art lover needs to see!

The first installment at Hall des Lumiere is designed to bring guests through Gustav Klimt’s career while showcasing the building’s towering columns, coved ceilings, marble walls, and stained glass skylights.

Yet, the fun doesn’t stop with the art! Guests will also be shown a presentation about the design and history of the Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank, which is one of the first Beaux-Arts-style skyscrapers ever built.
