There are many Broadway shows that you can attend for many years. But even these can eventually come to an end, as was the case most recently with The Phantom of the Opera.
I’ve listed which musicals are ending soon for you here. So you can see right away which Broadway shows you definitely have to visit before there are no more performances.

07 The Very Hungry Caterpillar (until July 2, 2023)
“The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show” on Broadway is an adaptation of Eric Carle’s beloved children’s book, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” The show brings to life the colorful and whimsical illustrations from the book through a combination of puppetry, music, and storytelling. The production follows the journey of a little caterpillar as it eats its way through various fruits and foods, eventually transforming into a beautiful butterfly.
Along the way, the audience is introduced to other friendly creatures, such as ladybugs, spiders, and bees. The show is a delightful experience for both children and adults, filled with joy and wonder.

06 Fat Ham on Broadway (until August 6, 2023)
FAT HAM, the critically acclaimed and Pulitzer Prize-winning new play, is coming to Broadway following a sold-out run at The Public Theater. Written by James Ijames and directed by Saheem Ali, this hilarious and thought-provoking play reinvents Shakespeare’s masterpiece.
The story follows Juicy, a queer, Southern college student grappling with questions of identity, as he is visited by the ghost of his murdered father and is asked to seek revenge. However, as a sensitive and self-aware young Black man seeking his own happiness and liberation, Juicy finds that revenge is not easy. From a family cookout emerges a powerful examination of love and loss, pain and joy. This compelling play will run at the American Airlines Theatre, with previews starting on March 21, 2023.

05 Funny Girl on Broadway (until September 3, 2023)
Funny Girl is a love letter to Broadway that has it all! This show features one of the most beloved scorers of all time by Bob Merrill and Jule Syne, a Harvey Fierstein revised book that’s based on Isobel Lennart’s original, tap choreography, and Michael Mayer’s direction.
Yet it also brings a phenomenal cast with Lea Michele, the Drama Desk Award Nominated actress, as Fanny Brice, and Ramin Karimloo, a Tony Award nominee. Funny Girl dazzles with comedy and music. Expect to hear songs such as “People,” “I’m the Greatest Star,” and “Don’t Rain On My Parade.”
The bittersweet comedy does an amazing job telling the story of the determined Fanny Brice, a Lower East Side girl who dreamed of performing on the stage. Though everyone in her life said she would never be a star, something quite odd happened – she became one of history’s most iconic performers!

04 Once Upon a One More Time (until September 3, 2023)
Once Upon a One More Time, a musical that flips the script on your favorite fairy-tale icons is premiering at the Marquis Theatre. Featuring the chart-topping hits of Britney Spears, this original story follows a group of heroines who gather for a book club every fortnight to discuss Grimm’s Fairy Tales, the only book they’ve ever known.
But when a rogue fairy godmother drops The Feminine Mystique into their laps, they begin to realize that there’s more to life than finding a prince. This ultimate revisionist fairy tale empowers the characters and will make you feel stronger than yesterday.

The musical Here Lies Love tells the story of the rise of Philippine First Lady Imelda Marcos and how she was eventually overthrown by the Philippine People Power Revolution. Penned by Grammy winners David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, the musical transforms the theater into a dance club where audience members can immerse themselves in the storyline.
Here Lies Love is recommended for audiences ages 12 and up.
