Every summer, there are free film screenings in many parks in the city: from Brooklyn to Queens and to Manhattan, you have several locations to choose from. But one of our absolute favorite spots is Bryant Park. Every Monday, classic films are screened in the incredible setting of the park, surrounded by skyscrapers and the Empire State Building.
Take your time and spend an unforgettable evening under the stars amid the New Yorkers because this is one of the best things to do in Summer in New York!
My tip: be sure to also check out my ultimate guide with all locations in my article on Free Summer Movies in New York City.
What are the Summer Movies in Bryant Park?
My favorite summer event! One of the most famous and, for me, most beautiful places to see movies is definitely Bryant Park. And the best part? They’re free! If you’re in New York at this time, it’s definitely a MUST DO (or rather, MUST SEE)!
When do the movies start and when should you arrive?
Every Monday, classic films are shown here in the incredible setting of the park. After all, you are surrounded by skyscrapers, and the Empire State Building can also be spotted from here.
There is no fixed schedule, as start times vary based on the setting of the sun, but every Monday during the summer the movies start just around sunset, which is between 20:00 and 21:00 during the summer.
It’s best to arrive 1.5 to 2 hours before the movie starts to secure a good viewing location!

❌ There are no official dates for the movie screenings yet, but dates have been announced for the free concerts!
