Movies With A View in Brooklyn Bridge Park

Must read

Every year during the summer, this great free event takes place: Movies With A View on the Harbor View Lawn of the Brooklyn Bridge Park. From here you have a sensational view over the East River to the skyline of New York City, which is overlooked by the illuminated One World Trade Center.

It doesn’t get any better than sitting on a blanket during the evening with some delicious food and drink (the Time Out Food Market is not far away!) and enjoying the atmosphere of nighttime New York City while watching a movie! Find out everything you need to know about the free movie viewings here!

My tip: check out my guide to Free Summer Movies in NYC for all screening locations this year. Additionally, there are also a lot of free summer concerts in the different parks of New York City.

What are Movies With A View in Brooklyn Bridge Park?

This year marks the 22nd year of Movies With A View; they are part of the Free Summer Movies that take place throughout New York City. It’s a free event organized by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy with a different theme each year. For 2022, the theme is “Around the World.”

It’s definitely worth experiencing!

Where do the film screenings take place?

You can’t miss it: right at Pier 1 between the Brooklyn Bridge and the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, there is a large lawn called Harbor View Lawn. To get there, you can either take the NYC Ferry to the “DUMBO” stop, or you can walk across the Brooklyn Bridge (it’s even faster by Citi Bike).

When does Movies With A View take place?

From July to August, you can see movies every Thursday.

When do the movies start and when should you arrive?

The movies start at sunset, which is around 8:30 p.m. The park opens at 6 p.m., which is when you should plan to arrive so that you can get better seats, try Smorgasburg food, and listen to music from a live DJ.
