Confectionery! was opened in 2016 as a merger of a vegan bakery and a chocolate shop. Originally, the two shops were Lagusta’s Luscious (which sells vegan chocolates) and Sweet Maresa’s (which sells baked goods). Together forming Confectionery! as one vegan sweet shop, the owners offer up decadent chocolates and stunning baked goods, including cookies, truffles, and even vegan macarons!

Welcome to Planet Bake! NYC’s own Planet Bake is a sugar-free, vegan, gluten-free, kosher, and soy-free donut shop. Planet Bake sells donuts that are nutrient-rich while still being sweet, indulgent treats. While Chez Alex is not a fully vegan cafe option on our list, they certainly offer their fair share of vegan food options for delicious eats. Simply Sweet also uses organic ingredients that “nourish your mind, body, and soul.” The founder, Olesia, was inspired to start Simply Sweet after the birth of her son and the realization that a sugar-heavy diet is not appropriate for everyday eating. After trying these delectable sugar-conscious desserts, we couldn’t agree more!

Fan favorites at Simply Sweet are their vegan chocolate cake and their dark chocolate with orange and hazelnut. They also offer stunning acai bowls and other handmade chocolate bars.

A plant-based donut shop that offers rotating weekly flavors, Cloudy Donut is another vegan donut shop in NYC that demands a visit! Their flavors are so unique, with offerings in June 2023 such as Sweet Potato Pie, Strawberry Basil Jam, Margarita, and Blood Orange. There are 44 flavors in total that rotate in and out of the shop to always keep things fresh and exciting. 

Not to mention that the donuts at Cloudy Donut are probably the prettiest donuts you’ve ever seen. Their Blood Orange donut is a rosemary-infused blood orange glaze and a dehydrated blood orange on top. Ovenly is another bakery on our list that is not fully vegan but offers enough vegan options to be worth a visit. Ovenly is women-led and has been in business since 2010. There are plenty of delicious, unique flavors for vegan and non-vegan sweet tooth’s alike to enjoy.

We’re most excited about their “Secretly Vegan!” Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies are one of their most well-known products. Like other bakeries on our list, Ovenly also ships nationwide, so you can enjoy their treats from anywhere in the U.S.! Ovenly also has two locations in NYC for you to visit.

The Love Bakery is an NYC bakery that is 100% vegan, gluten-free, adaptogenic, and paleo. In their recipes, they do not include refined sugar, vegetable oil, soy, refined salt, eggs, or dairy. The Love Bakery does not have a storefront but instead offers a curbside pickup location. Orders should be placed 48 hours in advance. 

The desserts offered by The Love Bakery are simply stunning. We love the look of their Banana Bread Cake which is topped with seasonal fruit, herbs, and florals for decor, and their Energizing Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups look just like the real thing. Innocent Yesterday is a plant-based cafe that offers natural, organic ingredients. The founders of Innocent Yesterday aimed to create a cafe that worked as well for non-vegans as it does for vegans while spreading the message of saving the planet.

Peacefood Cafe is a vegan kitchen and bakery in NYC that offers yummy pastries, most of which are also gluten-free! Peacefood Cafe also has a special pastry menu that features unique additions that rotate in and out on a daily basis.

Their three main focuses are animals, food, and community, which means that they also offer adorable cat-themed items as well as locally sourced goods. Not only is their shop just to die for, but the treats are also amazing too!

Clementine Cafe & Bakery is a vegan bakery with indulgent treats in NYC. They offer a wide variety of sweet vegan desserts, including custom vegan cakes and cupcakes. They only use seasonal, fresh ingredients for their small-batch baked goods and pride themselves on offering a mostly local and sustainably sourced menu.

There are two Senza Gluten by Jemiko locations in NYC; one is a restaurant, and the other is a cafe and bakery. Owned and operated by Chef Jemiko L. Solo, Senza Gluten by Jemiko started in 2014 as a fully gluten-free Italian restaurant. The second Senza Gluten by Jemiko location is where all the sweet treats are, at the Senza Gluten Cafe & Bakery, which opened in 2018.

Opened in 2005, Erin McKenna’s Bakery is a NYC classic dessert location. The best part? Erin McKenna’s Bakery is always vegan, gluten-free, and kosher. There’s a mixture of sweet and savory options on the menu, but Erin McKenna’s Bakery is best known for its gorgeous, delicious vegan and gluten-free cakes. They are stunning to look at and even better to eat—that’s why Erin McKenna’s even ships them nationwide and has expanded to include two California locations and one in Florida.
