With a city so compact, individual stores make more sense than having enormous complexes. Malls in New York are everywhere, you just need to know where to look.

The city finds a way to squeeze in shopping malls but they’re not the traditional shopping centers you’ll see in suburban America. Shopping centers in New York City are very specific and only have a certain number of stores. In this guide, we will discuss some of our favorite shopping centers or malls in New York City.

    The Shops Hudson Yards

    Here, you can find some of your favorite stores such as Coach, Kenzo, H&M, Uniqlo and the high-end department store, Neiman Marcus. That’s just to name a few of the popular ones.

    Aside from shopping, you’ll also be treated with many dining options like the infamous burger chain, Shack Shack, as well as Momofuku, Belcampo Blue Bottle Coffee and many more. The food market, Mercado Little Spain is located on the bottom level of the shops.

    The Shops at Columbus Circle

    Just like Hudson Yards, this is one of the few shopping malls in Manhattan. The Shops At Columbus Circle inside the Time Warner Center is an enormous shopping center that is home to some popular luxury brands. Whole Foods is conveniently located in the basement and the mall is connected to the A C B D subway lines. It’s also in a great location because it’s directly across from Central Park.

    After walking around Central Park and shopping in New York, you can head to the luxury restaurants such as Per Se at Columbus Circle. Per Se is one of the most well-known restaurants in the United States which was founded by Chef Thomas Keller. Make sure to make reservations for this fine-dining establishment.

    This downtown NYC shopping center, which is oddly enough, connected to The Oculus, features multiple luxury brand stores. Here you can find Burberry, Bottega Veneta, Theory and many other high-end shops. In the winter, especially during the holiday season in NYC, they have events such as light shows. Outside, they even put up an ice rink for people to enjoy.

    Food is abundant here as well. On the second floor of Brookfield Place is a food market called Hudson Eats. Brookfield Place is probably one of the malls in New York that is overlooked at.

    Attention shoppers: the Greater New York City area is now home to one of the largest malls in the nation – the American Dream mall. After many years of waiting and constant delays, the massive shopping and entertainment complex are already open.

    The American Dream complex is much more than just a mall. Besides more than 450 shops, you will also find an unbelievable number of entertainment facilities here. As a matter of fact, the complex is almost split evenly amongst shopping and entertainment.

    The Staten Island Mall opened in 1973 and is located in New Springville, Staten Island. The mall is not only a shopper’s paradise, but also an important public transportation hub on the island. Many bus lines serve the mall. It is the second largest mall in New York City and stores include Apple, Foot Locker, H&M, Lidl, Macy’s, Michael Kors, Primark & Sephora. 

    There’s also food and drink: in addition to Starbucks and Wetzel’s Pretzels, there’s Applebee’s, Chick-Fil-A, Shake Shack, Wendy’s, and many more options.

    Queens Center Mall is located in Elmhurst, Queens. It’s one of the more popular malls in NYC, especially for this borough since it is centrally located and offers many different stores inside. You’ll find many of your popular brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Adidas, H&M and many more. Queens Center is set up more of a traditional mall compared to Manhattan since there’s more space.
